Affiliate Disclosure

The short version

Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you buy something through one, this site earns a small commission and you pay exactly the same price you would have paid anyway. That is how the site is funded.

Which programs

The Brew Bench participates in the Amazon Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. Where a manufacturer or specialty retailer runs its own program and carries the product being recommended, that link is used instead, because those programs generally pay better than Amazon on coffee equipment.

The Zulay Kitchen relationship

This one needs saying specifically rather than being covered by the general disclosure above. The author of this site has a personal connection to Zulay Kitchen, which makes a milk frother that competes in one of the four tested categories.

That relationship does not buy a placement. If Zulay’s frother earns its spot in testing, it appears and the connection is disclosed again on that page. If it loses to another frother, it is ranked honestly below the units that beat it, or it does not appear at all. Read the method it will be judged by: how I test gear.

What commission does not do

Commission rate never overrides an honest pick. A product that pays more does not get moved up, and a product that pays nothing is still recommended when it is the right answer. A site that quietly reorders its recommendations by payout is worth nothing to a reader, and eventually worth nothing to a search engine either.

Where affiliate links appear

On the four tested reviews, throughout, because recommending specific products is what those pages are for. On guides, at most once, at the end, in a single related-gear block. A guide answers its question first and completely; it is not a funnel with an answer attached.
